🌱 Ingredients
- Coconut-Derived Cleanser (Cocamidopropyl Betaine): A gentle, plant-based surfactant that traps and removes dirt and grime without drying skin. Fun fact: many grooming and baby wipes skip actual cleansing ingredients—ours doesn’t! You may see a bit of foaming - this is good. It means the bubbles trap the ick.
- Therapeutic-Grade Detoxifying Oils: A blend of pure, ethically sourced Lavender, Rosemary, and Sage essential oils known for their anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal properties. Validated by veterinary toxicology professionals for use in our product. Bonus: Lavender is one of dogs’ favorite scents (besides chicken)(Kokocińak et al. 1488). These oils also are the reason for the tonic's fresh smell.
- Plant-Based Moisturizers: High % of pure Glycerin and Aloe draw water to the skin to retain moisture, supporting a healthy skin barrier while smoothing and softening. Unlike many dog products that use these ingredients at super low levels just to claim them, they are 2nd and 3rd on our ingredient list, and used at a higher % than many expensive human skincare formulations.
Kokocińak, Agata et. al. “Canine Smell Preferences - Do Dogs Have Their Favorite Scents?” Animals, vol. 12, no. 12, June 8, 2022. p. 1488, https://doi.org/10.3390/ani12121488.

🧽 How to Use
We selected this packaging to make cleaning a one-handed solution. Using any absorbent material of your choice, push down on the applicator 2-3 times to wet the material. Swipe the bottom of your dog’s paws, and anywhere else they need a refresh 😉. Use as needed. Just remember, not all dogs prefer wet paws in the beginning. Our experience is that they adjust to clean, moisturized paws and skin quickly. This can also be true for scent as well.

Healthier paws start here ✅
Wondering how to keep your dog's paws clean, healthy, and safe after outdoor adventures? Our FAQ section covers everything about using a dog paw cleanser—from how often to use it, to what ingredients to look for, and why it matters.
How often should I clean my dog's paws with a paw cleanser?
Ideally, cleaning your dog's paws with a paw cleanser after each outdoor excursion is a proactive step in maintaining their paw health and preventing dirt and potential irritants from entering your home. Frequency can be adjusted based on your dog's activity level and how often and where your pup is outside. For city dwellers, imagine all of the unseen grime that can accumulate on those precious paws! Regular cleansing helps remove this buildup. You can learn more about our commitment to keeping your dog healthy on our Science page.
Can I use a dog paw cleanser every day?
Generally, yes - a gentle, high-quality dog paw cleanser such as our Anytime Anywhere Tonic can be used multiple times daily, especially after outdoor activities. Our vet-validated formulation at Dog Moxie prioritizes gentle, human-grade ingredients designed for regular use, and our formula is validated by both veterinarians and veterinary toxicologists. For insights into the science behind our gentle formulations, visit our Science page. Since every dog is different, it's always best to consult with your veterinarian or groomer if you have questions.
Are all dog paw cleansers safe for my dog to lick?
Great question! Not all paw cleansers are formulated to the same safety standards. At Dog Moxie, we understand that dogs naturally groom themselves, which is why our paw cleanser, like all our products, is formulated with dog-safe, human-grade ingredients, and why our products are validated specifically by veterinary toxicologists for safety, even if a small amount is licked. However, it's always best to discourage licking immediately after application to allow the cleanser to work effectively. For more information on our human-grade commitment, please see our Frequently Asked Questions page where we explain this in detail.
Can I use baby wipes or human hand sanitizer on my dog's paws?
While baby wipes might seem gentle, they aren't specifically formulated for the unique pH balance of a dog's skin and may contain fragrances or ingredients that could cause irritation. Even more, sometimes, baby wipes or other grooming wipes don't even include cleansing ingredients! Human hand sanitizer is not recommended as it often contains high levels of alcohol, which can severely dry out and irritate your dog's paw pads. For safe and effective paw cleaning, we recommend using a cleanser specifically designed for dogs, like our Anytime Anywhere Tonic. You can find more information on appropriate dog care on our Frequently Asked Questions page.
What should I look for in a good dog paw cleanser? (e.g., moisturizing, antiseptic)
We think a good dog paw cleanser should work as hard as your dog does for treats! Look for formulations that:
- Cleanse effectively: To remove dirt, mud, allergens, and potential irritants.
- Moisturize: To prevent dryness and cracking, especially important in harsh weather conditions.
- Contain safe, non-irritating ingredients: Prioritize human-grade ingredients, as we do at Dog Moxie.
- Show proof of safety and performance: Because your pup deserves it!
Our Anytime Anywhere Tonic is formulated with these considerations in mind. Learn more about our ingredients on our Frequently Asked Questions page.
Are there paw cleansers specifically for sensitive paws?
Yes, there are paw cleansers formulated specifically for dogs with sensitive paws. These often exclude harsh chemicals, dyes, and high fragrance levels. At Dog Moxie, our commitment to human-grade ingredients means our formulations are inherently gentle and suitable for many dogs with sensitivities. However, if your dog has known allergies or very reactive skin, we always recommend checking with your veterinarian and potentially doing a small patch test.
Why should I use a dog paw cleanser? What are the benefits?
Our best reason is to think about what is on the street, and imagine that in bed with you. Or next to you on the couch.
Using a dog paw cleanser offers numerous benefits for both your furry friend and you! Why?
- Removes dirt and debris: Prevents tracking messes into your home.
- Eliminates potential irritants: Such as pollen, allergens, and environmental pollutants.
- Helps protect against harsh elements: Like salt and ice melt in winter.
- Promotes paw health: Keeping paws clean and moisturized reduces the risk of dryness, cracking, and minor infections.
- Freshens paws: Helps reduce "unpleasant" odors (though we weirdly love the smell of Frito feet too!)
At Dog Moxie, our Anytime Anywhere Tonic is designed to provide these benefits with gentle, human-grade skincare just for dogs.
Can paw cleanser protect my dog's paws from salt and ice in the winter?
Yes! If formulated correctly, a good paw cleanser can help protect your dog's paws from the drying and irritating effects of salt and ice melt encountered during wintertime. Removing these substances after being outside can prevent discomfort, cracking, and skin irritation. Our Anytime Anywhere Tonic can be particularly helpful in these situations.
Will paw cleanser help with itchy or irritated paws?
Gentle paw cleansers can help alleviate itchy or irritated paws by removing potential allergens and irritants that may be clinging to the paw pads and fur. However, if your dog's itching or irritation is severe or persistent, it's crucial to consult with your veterinarian to identify the underlying cause. While our human-grade formulations are gentle, they are not a substitute for veterinary treatment. You can find more information about our commitment to gentle care on our About Dog Moxie page.
Do I need to rinse my dog's paws after using a paw cleanser?
Whether you need to rinse depends on the type of paw cleanser you are using. Many leave-on formulas, like our Anytime Anywhere Tonic, are designed to dry naturally without rinsing. Always follow the specific instructions provided on the product label. If rinsing is required, ensure you dry your dog's paws thoroughly afterward to prevent moisture-related issues.
My dog doesn't like having their paws cleansed. How can I make it easier?
Ha! You're not alone. Some dogs don't like having their paws touched or cleansed, but most get used to it. Making paw cleaning a positive experience will make it more enjoyable for both of you. Here are a few tips:
- Start slowly: Introduce paw handling gradually, pairing it with treats and praise.
- Use positive reinforcement: Reward calm behavior during the cleaning process with high-value treats.
- Make it a routine: Cleaning paws at the same time each day can help your dog anticipate and accept it.
- Use a gentle touch: Be calm and reassuring throughout the process.
- Consider the cleanser type: Some dogs may prefer wipes over sprays or vice versa. Our Anytime Anywhere Tonic is designed To be used with wipes of your choice for easy and quick application.
Is dog paw cleanser safe for puppies?
Yes, gentle, human-grade dog paw cleansers are generally safe for puppies. Puppies' paws can still get dirty and benefit from cleaning, especially as they explore the world. However, always choose a mild formula specifically designed for dogs and avoid anything with harsh chemicals or strong fragrances. Our Dog Moxie formulations are created with gentle care in mind, making them suitable for most puppies. If you have any specific concerns about your puppy, consulting your veterinarian is always recommended, as mentioned on our general Frequently Asked Questions page.
Can using paw cleanser too often dry out my dog's paws?
While regular paw cleaning is beneficial, using a harsh or improperly formulated cleanser too frequently could potentially lead to dryness. This is one reason why at Dog Moxie, we loaded our Anytime Anywhere Tonic with high concentrations of Glycerin and pure Aloe - they draw moisture to the skin and support the skin's natural barrier. Pay attention to the condition of your dog's paws. If you notice dryness, reduce the frequency of cleansing. You can learn more about our commitment to healthy skin and coat on our Science page.
Should I consult my vet before using a dog paw cleanser?
For general paw cleaning, consulting your vet before using a standard, gentle dog paw cleanser is usually not necessary. However, if your dog has pre-existing paw conditions, such as severe dryness, cracking, infections, or known sensitivities, it's always best to seek veterinary advice before introducing any new products, including paw cleansers. Your vet can provide personalized recommendations based on your dog's specific needs. We always advise erring on the side of caution when it comes to your dog's health.
